Was very nice!

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

My dad says there’s a seal on the engine that needs to be changed and the price of that is probably gonna determine if we get the truck.

Otherwise, brakes are good, clutch is good, I think there might be a speaker blown out but those would be changed asap anyway, interior is rattle free (!!!!) and very clean. The only issue on the exterior is some scratches and clear coat chips but I can probably fix that. No rust or noticeable dents.

Big thing is my big & tall self comfortably fits and can operate the pedals a-ok. I really, really liked it and hope this seal isn’t hard to change.

$4500, which I thought was excellent considering the truck only has 68k miles.

Yay!

About 7,000 times better than a Cobalt. More useful, too. <3 my S10. I'd <3 it even more if it had 100,000 less miles and no rust, both attributes this one has!

I just can’t get away from 4.3L V6s! Though this one has a far nicer vehicle wrapped around it.

My 4.3 is a tank. It needs its rings replaced (seeps oil when parked and then it burns off when restarted - leading to a sizable cloud of blue smoke upon start) but I’ve heard of these engines going for 20 years like that, so it’s way, way down on my list of things. I bought it with 168k on it and replaced the radiator, thermostat, plugs and wires (after it developed a terrible misfire above 2k RPM), and changed the oil. Putt putts right along now.

That sounds more like valve guides/seals than rings, shouldn’t be nearly as involved/costly to fix.

The 4.3 in the Safari ran without oil or coolant for an unknown amount of time. Didn't miss a beat.

That’s a really sweet find! I’ve always loved those wheels, i had them on my ‘98.

NP all day, every day. My father bought the same truck with an automatic with ~60k miles for $4k six years ago. The truck has some cosmetic issues from poorly fixed accident damage but damn if the truck isn’t reliable. The only issues he’s had are ABS/emergency brake lights on the dash (the control module has an inherent flaw in it that leads to failure), a leaking oil cooler (happens to all of them because it’s a poor design), and a bunch of front suspension parts recently worn out due NJ roads being awful.

The AC is cold, the radio sounds pretty good, and it’s surprisingly fast. I’m going to buy it off of him when the wife and I buy a house, then proceed to drive it forever.

DO IT! Even if it cost $500 bucks to replace that seal it’s still a GREAT deal.

EDIT: Does it have a clean accident history? The price is almost too good.

I used to have an 01 Blazer w/ the 4.3L... regularly did 12,000-mile oil changes. One time, I saw bits of a compression ring come out in the old oil. I never would’ve known, judging by how it ran - reliable, smooth as silk, never an issue.

It was just everything else attached to it that was a mess...
